Anti-Anti-Pornography, Part I: Awakening

October 31st, 2006 by johnnybg

(This is a series of weekly posts giving arguments against anti-porn groups)

Imagine a regular guy walking down the street
, minding his own business. It is a nice sunny afternoon, and he has nothing to do, so he took a walk around a block. Then he sees a pamphlet glued to the wall of his house. He suddenly feels uncomfortable, because he recognized a sign on the top. The note said: “Breathing movies consists in removing real or simulated life acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of breathing materials.”

Then he stops breathing.

This is when I start to write.

Exactly the same text appeared one day on porn industry house. It didn’t contain references to “breathing”, but to “pornography”. And it was called “Catechism of the Catholic Church“. Is there a better place to start than at the source of all anti-porn groups? All other anti-porn groups hide behind this “catechism” and exploit it to their benefit.

Let me ask Catholic Church a few questions:
1. Why is sex “intimate and private act”? Who told you so? Sex is natural function of all people on this planet, including Catholics. If there is no sex then there aren’t any churches, including Catholic. There wouldn’t be any people at all, for that matter.
2. Who gave you the right to define chastity and morality? Crusades, maybe? Burning Copernicus? Inquisition? Destroying books?
3. Why porn industry even exists? If you didn’t invent your “morality” and force it to the people, porn industry couldn’t sell any more than poor air salesmen.
4. If you ban all “who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world” shouldn’t Catholic Church be the first on the ban list? “Earth is the centre of the universe?”. Right… Two thousand years and you still don’t have a clue, do you?
5. Do you feel bad you can’t go burning and killing porn industry and people involved in it?
6. Why do you protect child rapists in your own ranks?

This kind of repressive and fundamentalist crap offends me. It offends all people who want to use their own brains instead of blindly following a group of hypocrites who gathered tons of gold by killing and stealing from others, pretending to do them a favor.

With such texts, Catholic Church is killing your brains.

Final note: I don’t wish to defend the porn industry. There are a bunch of bad people in it, as there are in any business. They should answer for their actions. My wish is to fight against people that make profit on other peoples misery, while hiding behind morality.
